Pair of Switchmans Lanterns-Parts or Restoration
Item Details
Description
This is a pair of switchman’s lanterns that while they are very nice, each has and issue that may relegate it to a parts lantern or to be restored. The first is a very nice Armspear lantern cast with N.P.RY. on the top rim for the Northern Pacific Railway. It is a very early lantern, with patent dates of 1886 and 1889. It comes with a burner and fount, but is missing the correct twist-off fount bottom, and it is also missing a correct cast globe. If the buyer can locate the correct base and globe, you will have a very valuable lantern! The second lantern is an Adlake Kero 300 with a clear Fresnel globe. It has a correct working burner and fount, but is not labeled for any railroad. Could be used as is! Nice metal on both of these lanterns.
