Limited Edition, copy 307 of 1000, signed by editor Red Smith and illustrator Willard Mullin. Association copy with Xmas '56 gift inscription from Philip Bryan Field, horse racing announcer and New York Times turf editor, one of the first to use the phrase "Triple Crown". Full leather binding with gilt lettering and top edge gilt. "Here are the best of the graceful, witty, wonderful pieces by Joe H Palmer, who was, until his death October 31, 1952, America's best known racing writer, and in the opinion of many the best writer of sports anywhere." Hard-to-find Limited Edition of some of the best horse racing sports-writing, with association gift from another sports journalist.
